Score

Every check, pass or fail

Content, format and best-practice checks: bullets per role, numbers, weak openers, buzzwords, length and more.

Cover letter

A letter for every version

Drafted from your CV and the job advert, in the same design, ready to edit and download.

Design

Six CV templates, full type control

Font, size, spacing, margins, date format, accent colour and an optional photo. A plain, ATS-friendly version for screening software.

Share

Link and QR code

Share a full CV link or a short contact card with a QR code. No account needed to view.

Pages

Real A4 pages, exact PDF

Long CVs flow onto page two with page numbers. The PDF matches the preview and uses real text. Word export too.

Multiple versions of your CV

One CV for every job, without the mess.

Most people end up with a folder of near-identical files and no idea which one went where. Universal CV ID keeps one master CV and builds each version from it.

  • Edit once. Fix a typo or add a new job in your master CV and every version can pick it up.
  • Tick, don't copy. Each version shows only the roles, bullets and skills you tick for that job.
  • See what went where. The tracker records which version you sent to which company, and where each application stands.

How it works

How to make your CV in three steps

  1. Import or build your CV

Upload a PDF or Word file, or start blank with a live A4 preview. Your Universal CV ID is created the moment you start.

  2. Tailor it to a job

Paste the advert, tick the roles and bullets that fit, close the keyword gaps, and draft the cover letter.

  3. Send and track

Download a PDF or Word file, or share a link or QR code, and log the application so you know what went where.

Questions

Free CV builder: common questions

Is the CV builder really free?

Yes. Building, tailoring, downloading as PDF or Word, and tracking applications are all free. There is no trial and no paywall on downloads.

Do I need to create an account?

No. There is no sign-up, email or password. Your CV is saved in your own browser on your own device.

Can I import my existing CV?

Yes. Upload a PDF or Word file and the builder fills in your sections, so you don't have to retype everything.

Is a CV the same as a résumé?

Mostly. In Ireland and the UK a CV is the standard document for job applications, usually one or two A4 pages. In the US a résumé is the shorter equivalent. The builder works for both.

Will my CV get through applicant tracking systems (ATS)?

Every template downloads as real, selectable text rather than an image, and there is a plain layout for screening software. Job match shows which keywords from the advert your CV covers and which are missing.

How do I tailor my CV to a job description?

Paste the job advert into Job match, tick the roles, bullets and skills that fit, and save it as a new version. Your master CV stays untouched, and the tracker records which version went to which company.

Where is my CV stored?

Only in your browser. We do not receive a copy. It leaves your device only when you download it or share a link yourself.
